The Town of Penhold is pleased to announce that the Government of Alberta has approved the annexation of approximately 534 hectares (1,319 acres) of land north, east and south of the town's current town limits comprising titled lands and non-titled road allowances and rights of way. The newly annexed lands will provide the town with approximately 50 year land supply that wil see the growth of services, amenities and housing over the next several decades.
Annexation negotiations began in October 2016, with the town and Red Deer County working collaboratively through the annexation exercise to engage key stakeholders in a series of one-on-one engagements and open houses. The Town and County successfully negotiated and signed the terms of annexation in June 2017.
Over the course of the upcoming months, plans to transition services will be underway. Residents within the annexed area will not experience any significant change in lifestyle as current service standards will be maintained.
