The Town has a number of planning projects on-the-go as we continue to grow and continue to plan for long-term sustainable growth. Below are just a few of the projects the Town is working on.
Pedestrian Crossing/Highway 42 & Waskasoo Avenue
The Town is currently working on the final details for the installation of a pedestrian crosswalk at Highway 42 and Waskasoo Avenue. The pedestrian crosswalk will include signalization and painted road crossing. The Town is working with Alberta Transportation on having the speed limit reduced and signage placed accordingly.
Multiplex Recreation Area
Approximately 66 acres of land on the east side of the Multiplex and Penhold Crossing Secondary School is proposed for recreational development. This development is proposed to showcase a 40 site campground development, 3 baseball fields, 2 soccer fields, a track and field site, Skate Park and a non-motorized boating area. Gathering areas and a complete trail network is proposed to connect throughout the recreational area for everyone’s enjoyment.
Penhold Recreational Vehicle
Construction has begun on the 66 RV lots proposed along the north side of the Regional Multiplex. Lots will be fully serviceable with accessibility to pay as you go sanidump station located in the north west corner of the Multiplex parking lot. Anticipate the opening to be the long weekend in July 2018.
Oxford Landing is being developed by Melcor Developments (make link) and is located north of Highway 42 and east of Waskasoo Avenue. This community blends the simplicity of small town life with the amenities you might expect from larger centres. Phase 1 is zoned for a variety of Low Density Small Lot, Low Density Narrow Lot and Low Density Low Lot with Garage residential homes.
The Village at Oxford Landing
The Village is a 188 lot land lease manufactured home community in the growing community of Oxford Landing in Penhold. The Village will be professionally managed with comprehensive bylaws to maintain a clean, quiet community that you will be proud to call home. The community will be architecturally controlled and professionally landscaped with a variety of housing models available. Phase 1 will have 40 lots for lease to qualified home owners, available in the fall of 2016.
Hawkridge Estates is located across from the Town’s Multiplex Centre and just south of Highway 42. With the remaining phases nearing full build-out, this community provides residents with a range of housing options and connective trails to parks and open spaces throughout the subdivision.Hawkridge Concept Plan
Penhold Plaza Crossing Commercial Development
The 0.67 hectare Highway Commercial Development at 2 Hawkridge Boulevard is under construction. The commercial developments is proposed to include a drive-thru establishment, convenience store, commercial retail and gas station.
The Palisades subdivision is at the south end of Town and just east of Waskasoo Avenue. This community provides residents with a variety of opportunities to enjoy the nearby open space amenities and trail connections. Phase 1 and 2 is zoned for Low Density Small Lot residential homes.
