Pet licensing keeps the community safer, helps residents reunite with lost pets, and saves pets lives.
Town of Penhold Bylaws require all dogs and cats have an annual pet license. Please fill in the form to register your pet. Fees must be paid through Option pay at the time of registration if you are submitting the form online.
Alternatively, you can print the pet license application form and bring it to the Town Office to pay your license fee and pick up your tag.
License fees pay for a small portion of the animal control services within Penhold. There is a cost to having a pet friendly community and ensuring the community is safe. Animal control officers trap and control animals at large, most often dogs and cats. Licensed pets indicate to the control officer that a family is likely looking for that pet and provides the chance to reunite the two. Licensed animals statistically have a higher survival rate by avoiding the shelter system when picked up by an officer.
A typical year sees 20 dogs and 15 cats picked up and either reunited with families immediately or taken to our boarder service to reunite with families. The goal is to avoid shelters for as long as possible and treat pets humanely.
Pet licensing is a bylaw in the Town of Penhold and the surrounding communities. Please refer to our Animal Control page for more information regarding enforcement of Dog and Cat Bylaws.
If you are looking for a lost pet, contact Klassic Kennels and check their Klassic Kennels Facebook page for photos of animals that have been picked up by Enforcement Officers.
