PUBLIC NOTICE (Posted April 29, 2026)

Bylaw No. 848/2026 proposes to amend the Town’s Land Use Bylaw by changing the current designation as per Bylaw 837/2025

The subject land, known as the Fire Hall location, is currently designated as Public and Institutional (PI) under the Land Use Bylaw. The existing Public and Institutional designation limits the range of allowable uses and does not fully support the evolving needs and long-term development objectives of the community.

An application has been received to redesignate the subject lands to Mixed Use (MU) to allow for a combination of residential and commercial uses within an existing building. This redesignation aligns with the policies and goals of the Town of Penhold’s Municipal Development Plan, including the efficient use of land, the creation of complete and vibrant activity areas, and the promotion of sustainable growth patterns.

The proposed amendment is considered consistent with adjacent land uses and is intended to integrate sensitively with surrounding developments through appropriate site design, circulation, and landscaping.

The area proposed for change is shown in orange on the drawing.

A copy of Bylaw No. 848/2026, the proposed updated version of the subject land, Plan RN26A, Block A, Lots 16-20, located at 1001 Minto Street, and the Land Use Bylaw can also be viewed at the Town of Penhold Office.
